A senior leader from EQUANS approached me to design a team-building experience as part of their offsite at Park Royal Parramatta in September 2025. With a dispersed team of 15–20 people gathering in Sydney, the goal was to create a shared activity that fostered collaboration, strengthened relationships, and aligned with the DISC behavioural framework they had been exploring earlier in the day.
The Vision
I knew the experience needed to be immersive and interactive, while still maintaining a professional tone. It needed to last 2.5 hours and be aligned with the themes of teamwork, collaboration, and self-awareness through DISC. Furthermore, the experience needed to feel stylish and premium, consistent with Sensoriam's luxe aesthetic.
The Experience
I created a bespoke natural perfumery class designed to weave in DISC learnings while offering participants a memorable, hands-on creative outlet.
Drawing on my decades of corporate training expertise, I guided the group through a structured yet playful program.
Before the perfume-making began, I invited each person to guess which scents their colleagues might be drawn to based on their DISC profiles.
They then crafted their own 9ml natural roll-on perfume, choosing from a curated palette of essential oils at a beautifully styled Sensoriam scent bar.
Once everyone had finished, the group tried to guess whose perfume belonged to whom— sparking lively discussion, laughter, and insight into how personality traits can influence sensory preferences.
Throughout the session, I shared storytelling around the history of natural perfumery and the symbolism of scent, connecting it back to the DISC framework of differences, strengths, and collaboration.
Each guest also received a beautifully designed workbook, reinforcing the perfume-making process along with reflective prompts related to DISC.
The Impact
18 team members took part in the experience, each leaving with a bespoke perfume they had created themselves.
The experience generated lots of laughter, bonding, and new insights, blending creativity with professional development.
The guests were surprised and impressed at how perfume-making could be connected to DISC, creating a powerful metaphor for individuality and teamwork.
EQUANS was delighted, praising the experience as both highly engaging and deeply relevant to their team-building goals.
