Dior Eau Sauvage - Sensoriam's natural perfume switch out suggestions

Did you know that the original Eau Sauvage by Dior, the classic men’s fragrance, was originally released in 1966. It has been around for a long time. The current cult favourite Sauvage Eau de parfum by Dior which launched in 2018 has had a few modifications.

Dior's Sauvage Eau de Parfum recalls the wild and untameable wilderness while still managing to project an air of luxury and refinement. It expresses the character of a guy who is both strong and elegant with its bold and spicy opening notes of black pepper and bergamot blended with a fresh and earthy hint of lavender.

A rich and deep foundation of patchouli, vanilla, and ambroxan follows, until the scent mellows into a warm and sensual heart of star anise and nutmeg. The end result is a distinctive and seductive fragrance that marries the unbridled strength of nature with the sophistication of good perfumery, giving it the ideal aroma for the contemporary guy who is both tough and sophisticated.

You may not have heard of Ambroxan before. It is a synthetic aroma compound widely used in the fragrance industry as a substitute for ambergris. It is often described as having a warm, musky and slightly woody scent with notes of amber, tobacco and earthiness. The ambergris that it is imitating is actually a natural substance obtained from the digestive system of sperm whales and is now largely banned. None of our perfumes here at Sensoriam have ambergris in them. Nor do they have Ambroxan in them.
